And how do the mules feel about this? has any one asked them? are they freely willing to do this? I think robots would be better to use than living things. shame on them.
wrong again you stupid self centered humans - how dare you jeopardize the health of an innocent mule!!!!!!! You stupid people should be using life timers out of the prisons so when they get sick and die the tax payers wont be charged as much. WAKE UP - why would you hurt an innocent trusting animal? YOU PEOPLE are sick sick sick
What about the gamma radiation's where did it suppose to come from?
I think PETA will be there believe me, they are very good at stopping things like this. I agree with we should use the drug mules, or robots or a small fly over drone ......when is the human race gonna wake up to stop abusing all living things. Wooden ears.
Mules? You mean they are gonna be using illegal immigrant drug carrying mules for this test? Wow. I like that idea.
Why don't they use robots instead? They could pack more tech into it that way, and not have the death of animals on their heads.
When mankind is unwilling to do a dangerous task, then they just bring in an animal and force them to do it for them. Animals are "expendible". This is the perfect example of arrogant and inhumane treatment of animals.........These lab workers have no conscience when it comes to using animals for testing, or in lab experiments. It has to stop. We are the last developed country that still uses animals in testing and labs. Shame on the EPA. It won't just be Peta getting involved, I would think that the Humane Society will too.
Are you folks serious? Mules are work animals, they love to work. I have four of them and they get bored if I don't ride or work them every couple of days. There is a big difference between a horse and a mule. A horse can be bullied and abused into working where as a mule must be convinced or persuaded to do a job. They have a great sense of self preservation and will refuse to perform a task that is dangerous. My animals, like a lot of others around here, have the best health care, food, and pasture. They meet me at the gate every morning hoping that the trailer is hooked to the truck so they can get out and ride, plow, or pull. Of course there is a potential for abuse but I'm pretty sure it would be the exception and not the rule.
Most of us know about mules, and most of US realize that Humans aren't willing to take a risk of being exposed to high levels of radiation. So how do you think it's right to send a mule in to do what a person who knows the risk is unwilling to do? Ever see what an overdose of radiation does? How can you NOT call this cruelty to an animal?
Do you really think they are sending the mules in with equipment but not people to lead them? My mules are smart but they haven't yet mastered the use of a dosimeter or other testing equipment. Maybe it's the lack of thumbs!! I spent several years working in nuclear power plants and know a little about the effects of different levels and types of background radiation. Nobody, man or mule, is going to be exposed to radiation levels higher than limits set by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
I would hope not, but I don't give them that much credit.
And, you are right, about Mules being smart. They were smarter than the horses I had.
The main reason I got away from horses is because I was so impressed with the mules. They can do anything a horse can do and usually better. They tend to live longer, have a longer work life, stay healthier, have better hooves, and are pound for pound stronger. The misconception is that mules are stubborn, but they aren't. They just seem that way because they will not put themselves, or their rider, into a dangerous situation. They will also not allow someone to work them to death like a horse will. My mules are my family. There is nothing that I would not do for them and I like to think they feel the same way about me.
Why you dumb idot's a mule is a four wheeled remote controlled ATV.No animal life involved
MULES...MULES???
I live in Colombia, my name is Pablo E, I have not used "Mules" since I used them to bring Cocaine into the US back in the 80s.
Oh really? and where does it say that in the article??? Nowhere! Yes, I think we know the other way the word "mule" is used and it isn't used in that context.
