It is so refreshing to hear that they got exactly what they fought so hard to get, enjoy!
They fought to unify their country and kick out foreign exploiters. Now they need to kick out their domestic exploiters.

Of course, the US Troops in Viet Nam were never "Foreign Exploiters", instead they were there to help stop the spread of the Communist Occupation Forces who were and still are puppets to the mainland China Communist regime. Just look at the (illegal) "Official flags" of China and Viet Nam, they are an exact color match with yellow star(s) because both nations are exploited by the Communist Occupation Forces.
I'm sure they are glad we pulled out and let communism take over. Oh yeah, in a communist state you don't really own anything, it belongs to the "state". Did they forget to tell you that? Must have been one of those "minor details" they forgot to discuss later.
Eminent domain conflict. I am interested to know, how much money,time and effort, this family put into this enterprise. Also, the compensation and benefits the local government received?
Eminent domain does not apply in that country, he never owned the land and it belongs to the state (country government) no the person living there. People get American rights confused with foreign law. American rights do not apply to anyone unless you are in America, that includes Americans in foreign countries. Your statement has no legal basis in Vietnam.

Doan Van Vuon is an exemplary citizen, who served in the Vietnam's People Army and took up the challenges to transform a wasteland into farm lands and fish ponds that Vietnamese government had failed to do before they leased the land to him. Local authorities made a deal with Doan Van Vuong to renew the land lease if he dropped the suit in Court, and then proceeded with forceful entry into the property of Doan Van Vuong.
Is it a crime if he posed homemade bombs on his property to protect his "castle"? It is the police force who entered illegally into his property at their own perils. Today, Vietnamese PM, Nguyen Tan Dung, made the final decision of the land revocation was illegal. Therefore, Doan Van Vuon should not be criminally charged for attempt murder as the police entered his land illegally while Doan Van Vuon was not even present at the scene when 6 agents were injured. The local authorities abused their power to call up army and police, more than 100 agents, to forcefully remove the people from their lands without compensation in order to make a profit with some other land developers. The local authorities should be held accountable for the injured agents and criminally charged for the vandalism of destroying the houses of Doan Van Vuong.
Let's see how Vietnamese justice will play out.
Doan Van Vuon and his kin members should be released without criminal charges and be indemnified for their houses and business loss.

The farmer and his family will be released and his lease renewed. The government will probably even rebuild his house. The local officials who are responsible for the incident will be fired and possibly imprisoned. This solution has tremendous propaganda value. Trying the Vuon family as criminals would be a disaster. That won't happen. Uncle Ho would be proud.
Notice how Communism and Capitalism end up exactly the same.
With a rich upper class and politicians lording over and cheating the poorer classes.

I served in the "American War" for two years with the 3rd Marine Division. In my mind, the present injustices in Vietnam are nothing in comparison to the USA's creation of and intervention in the Vietnam Civil War (which cost the lives of about 4 million people.)
You have got to be kidding. You conviently left out the injustices of the "Re-Education Camps" set up by the Communist Occupation Forces starting in 1954 in the North and starting in 1975 in the South until 1992 for anyone who dared not to kowtow to the Communist Occupation Forces. Now, just thrown in prison and forgotten. "two years" in VN with a way out becomes no expert compared to several years in Re-Education Camps. The Real Injustice in Viet Nam in the once free south was when Occupied by the Communist Occupation Forces on April 30th, 1975 (two years AFTER the US Troops left).

At that time there was no civil war and no "re-education" camps. US President Harry Truman refused to grant recognition to Vietnam and, to serve his own political purposes, ordered the US Merchant Marine to transport French troops to Vietnam for that country's re-subjugation. The USA financed the French invasion effort and also financed the formation of the Vietnam National Army thus setting the stage for a puppet government and a civil war. I suggest General (US Army) MacMaster's excellent book: "The Lies That Led to the Vietnam War," and "Vietnam, America's Albatross," by OSS Officer Archemedes Patti. Without Mr. Truman's interference in Vietnamese affairs, 4 million civilians and soldiers would not have died and, possibly, there never would have been any re-education camps. I also suggest that you read up on what life was like in Vietnam during the eighty years of French tyranny. There are many reasons why Ho Chi Minh is a national hero in Vietnam.
...Some wrong headed remarks... Vietnam is *not* hand in glove with China as one person posted here... Vietnam fought (and won) a brief border war with China... and both sides have clashed over islands offshore... The Vietnamese are extremely anti-Chinese... and had no qualms about ethnic Chinese being driven out after the war... though they had lived in Vietnam for many hundreds of years...

Jim, the VN Gov are stooges to the Chinese Gov, both occupied by the International Socialists of Communist Occupation Forces. Those Chinese "driven out" after the war were those that did not kowtow to the Communist Occupation Forces. Many of them from the Cho Lon District (District 5) of Sai Gon. The illegal VN Gov out of Ha Noi still praised the remote few Chinese who kowtowed to the Communist Occupation Forces. The border War in "79 you speak of eventually had the VN Gov succumb to given up land to their Chinese Communist Gov Masters in Beijing. There are still Vietnamese two journalists in jail since 2009 who dared to even mention how the VN Gov Cowards kowtowed to their masters in Beijing on the border "agreement"
For those of you who think America is any better than this, or that you "own" land, stop paying your land rent AKA "property taxes" and see what happens. Or try fighting an eminent domain eviction as this man did. If you and your family are not killed by a swat team, you will be vilified in the media, rather than made a hero as in Viet Nam. Americans are apparently a lot more propagandized than Vietnamese are. It's time for us to wake up to reality, even if it hurts.
